Christine Hansen, glass artist

“Our Sun is a second- or third-generation star. All of the rocky and metallic material we stand on, the iron in our blood, the calcium in our teeth, the carbon in our genes were produced billions of years ago in the interior of a red giant star. We are made of star-stuff.”
Carl Sagan

I’m Christine Hansen, a glass artist specializing in lampwork glass beads and memorial glass beads and hearts. I combine starstuff – cremated remains – with molten glass to create a gorgeous keepsake in memory of your beloved family member, friend, or pet.

Making thoughtfully detailed lampwork glass focal beads is a joy for me, but using those same talents and skills to create memorial beads, hearts, and ornaments fills me with a deep sense of gratitude and satisfaction. I’m privileged to share my compassion and art with my clients.

Grief is an intensely personal process, something that is different for everyone. I believe this process should be honored, and that each person needs to move through this process at his or her own pace. My hope is that my memorial hearts and beads will offer support and comfort as this process unfolds.

Always, my intent with my art has been to uplift, empower, or benefit in some way everyone who encounters my work. Creating memorial pieces of art is a natural evolution of my original desire to be of service, and allows me the privilege of using my talents and gifts to benefit others in a more meaningful, personal way.
